Position Purpose: The PreK-2nd grades Music Specialist teacher provides a compelling and energized music experience within a positive and collaborative learning environment This is a long-term substitute position beginning May 1st and continuing through June 4th.

We are seeking candidates who have:

  • An undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Education, Music Education preferred
  • Early childhood/elementary music teaching experience preferred
  • Strong emotional intelligence: warm, kind, flexible, patient, sense of humor, active listener, empathetic, confidential. Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of an eclectic music education curriculum including Kodály and Orff methodologies.
  • Piano accompanying skills a plus!

Core Job Responsibilities

This role is a full-time teaching position with the following major responsibilities:

  • Teach music lesson for all PreK-2nd grade sections.
  • Implement captivating lessons that incorporate Singing, Moving, Improvisation, Listening, Playing Instruments, Creating, Reading, Notating, Describing, and Evaluation. Demonstrate energized classroom pacing.
  • Provide a positive classroom experience that incorporates effective classroom management techniques.
  • Collaborate with grade level teams, other curriculum specialists, and Student Support Team.
  • Fulfill all supervisory duties as assigned before, during and after formal instructional times.
